A man and woman engaged in conversation while seated at a table

As we dive into the 2024 tax season, I wanted to reach out about something that will help us take even better care of you this year. Over the past few years, we’ve seen an increase in notices and letters from both the IRS and the California Franchise Tax Board (FTB). These letters often require quick responses, and I want to make sure we’re fully prepared to handle them for you.

To do that, I’m asking you to sign a Power of Attorney (POA) form. This is not about giving away control—it’s a simple way to authorize us to communicate directly with the IRS and FTB on your behalf. It allows us to resolve issues quickly and efficiently, saving you time, stress, and the hassle of dealing with these agencies yourself.

How POA Helps You

Here’s why signing the POA makes such a difference:

  • Direct Communication: It allows us to talk directly with the IRS or FTB about your taxes, without having to bother you for approval each time.
  • Faster Resolutions: When a notice comes in, we can handle it immediately, avoiding delays that could lead to penalties.
  • Less Stress for You: My team and I will take care of everything, so you don’t have to spend time or energy navigating tax issues.
  • Proactive Problem Solving: With access to your records, we can catch and address potential problems early.

The California Franchise Tax Board has been increasing audits and compliance checks, which means more notices for taxpayers. With POA in place, we can ensure these are handled timely and professionally.

What You Need to Do

To make it easy, we’ve already uploaded the POA forms to your client portal. All you need to do is:

  1. Download the Forms: Log in and download the documents.
  2. Sign the Forms: Print and sign them.
  3. Send Them Back: Upload them back to the portal or mail them to our office.

If you’d rather have us mail the forms to you, just email us with that request. We’re happy to send them.

Let’s Keep It Simple This Tax Season

We’re here to make the tax process as easy and stress-free as possible for you. Signing the POA is a small step that allows us to do our job better and ensure everything is handled quickly and efficiently.

If you have any questions about this or anything else, feel free to reach out—We’re always here to help. Thanks so much for trusting us to manage your tax needs, and here’s to a smooth 2024 tax season!
